Whistler Travel and Transport: Photo of the village and mountainsThe public transport network around the Whistler Blackcomb area is quite adequate and various buses are on hand, travelling to the main places of interest. Renting a car is a recommended travel option for many, and driving along the Sea-to-Sky Highway is always an enjoyable experience, particularly if you have time to visit one of the large parks or dramatic waterfalls en-route, or can stop off at the town of Squamish.

Some visitors prefer to use taxi transport, with Whistler Resort Cabs providing a very convenient travel option being the main village and Vancouver International Airport. It is always worth sharing taxi cabs for this long journey if possible, since taxi transport is not the cheapest way to travel along this particular route. Whistler Village itself is full of walkways and very pedestrian-friendly, wit the nearby Blackcomb Village resort being eminently walkable.

Many visitors flying into Vancouver Airport arrange to rent a car and drive into Whistler, stopping along the way at the various viewing points to admire the fine scenery. Whistler is easy to travel to by car, being sited along the British Columbia Highway 99, which is often referred to as the 'Sea-to-Sky Highway'. Hiring a car allows tourists to sightsee outside of the Blackcomb resort, with trips to both Squamish and Vancouver being especially popular. However, do bear in mind that the snowy winter conditions can make driving hazardous, although the main roads are usually well gritted.
